Parish Organizations and Contacts

Bible Study – meets each Wednesday night at 7pm during the school year.  Call the parish office for more information or to register.

CCD (Catechism Classes for Children) – meets Sunday mornings beginning at 9am from September until May.  Call Connie Quinn (717-667-6507) to register or for more information.

Funeral Luncheon Committee – assists by preparing meals/refreshments for funerals and other special parish events.  Contact Kay Parker via the parish office for information.ndings

Knights of the Holy Temple – a group for high school age boys which strives to help them to become Catholic young gentlemen. Service to the parish at the liturgy and in charity. They meet biweekly. An orientation and admission process is required. For information speak to Michael Parker or contact Fr. Bateman.

Landings – a group to welcome back non-practicing Catholics.  They meet weekly for faith sharing and formation.  For more information call 717-242-2781.

Liturgy Committee – meets monthly to plan and evaluate the liturgical life of the parish.  For more information, call Fr. Bateman at (717-242-2781) or e-mail him.

NFP (Natural Family Planning) – The only Catholic approved means of regulating birth.  Classes are offered frequently and free of charge to all who want to learn more about this spiritual and effective means of planning for a family.  For information please call Martin & Mary Smith (717-935-5256).

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) – meets each Thursday from 7:00pm to 8:30 pm from September to May in the Rectory Meeting Room.  Call John Kriauckas (717-899-5646) or the parish office for more information.

Sacred Heart of Jesus School Board of Education – a consultative body to the pastor and principal to help direct and guide decisions on policy matters which affect the parish school.  The Board meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30pm in the school building.  For more information, call the Board of Education President, Don Zagurski (717-436-9141), or e-mail Sr. Marie, our school principal.

Sacred Heart Thrift Shop – 17 E. Market Street, Lewistown.  Hours: 10am – 3pm Monday through Saturday. 717-247-2797.

St. Vincent DePaul Society – an organization committed to serving the needs of the poor in our local community.  The Society meets the 4th Monday of each month at 7pm in the Rectory Meeting Room.  For more information call Marie at the parish office (717-242-2781) or e-mail her at the parish office.

Van Transportation – to Mass and special services is available.  To arrange a ride or to volunteer to drive, please call the parish office (717-242-2781) or e-mail Marie Bender at the parish office.

Youth Group – a group for students between grades 8-12 which meets regularly on alternating Sunday evenings for study, service and fun and friendship based on a Catholic/Christian foundation.  Call the parish office (717-242-2781) for more information, contact Marie Lepley or Fr. Bateman.
